Tree Dedication at Peace Garden April 30, 2017

City of Welland Heritage Advisory Committee, would like to invite the residents of Cooks Mills to attend the dedication of a Memorial Tree in the 1812 Peace Garden on Sunday April 30th at 3:30 p.m.

The tree has been planted in honour of Brian Merrett, the CEO of the Niagara 1812 Bicentennial Legacy Council, a former regional chairman and former chairman of the Niagara Parks Commission. Brian was the driving force behind the Bicentennial Celebrations of the War of 1812 across the Niagara Region from 2012 through 2014 and a strong supporter of our local 1812 Committee as we worked to establish the Peace Garden in 2013 and organize the re-enactment of the Battle of Cook’s Mills in 2014.
